{ A photograph with a strong sense of mood and emotion. }

This image was originally taken for an assignment for SLAM magazine, a school sponsored publication for art and creation around Mountain View High School. The idea was to go out and create interesting, unique photos that had movement and playfulness. The models, Whitney Ross (Junior) and Jessie Erb (Sophomore), and the photographer ventured deep into the storm system of Bol Park in Palo Alto. The system has been decommissioned for years but remains a place for urban explorers and teenagers looking to tag their art. We chose this location for the mix of color in the tags on the walls and the dynamic space the tunnels offer, allowing us to play with light and flash in a space with practically no natural sun-light. We used light sticks to get the desired lighting effect and a mix of camera angles to add uniqueness to the assignment. This photo does a really good job of showing emotion through the faces on the models, the dramatic lighting and the low camera angle.
