Composition: Rule of Thirds Emotion

For this photo blog I took a picture of my dad to use the rule of thirds to show emotion. I told my dad to look sad and stare into the distance (he’s just acting for the picture). This picture isn’t exactly rule of thirds however. My dad’s face is more to the center of the photo while the rest of his head is more on the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds is effective though because of the space in front of my dad’s face, which gives more depth and shows that he is thinking about something, rather than looking at something off camera. The rule of thirds also allows you to have things in the background that are not the subject but still contribute to a photo.
