When given the prompt of “Weight or Mass” for this photo assignment, I was inspired to do something with sunlight. I love observing the different way light bends and how it can form flexible ribbons across windows, trees, and other objects. So, I decided to photograph the late afternoon sun streaming through trees in my front yard. In the photo, the trees serve as a more anchored and weighted part of the scene because of their vertical stature, whereas the sun beams represent a more angelic and light floaty feeling. I wanted to capture the magic of flowing light with this composition.
