Blog Post #53 – Frame the Frame

1/400 f/20. ISO800

I was so lucky enough to have taken a trip to Italy with my dad over spring break. At the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, I photographed the ceiling. Standing in the very center, the ceiling paints a picture of someone’s life service, and beliefs. This is only one panel out of hundreds covering every inch of the museum ceilings, each unique and telling its individual story.

Blog Post #50 – Using Props

Believe it or not, this is a picture of a baby blanket covered in thorns being disposed of in a local park bin. I ultimately decided to invert the image because although it was cool on its own, the filter makes it come to life. Specifically, the orange color makes its appearance on the can creates an alluring contrast to the cool-toned theme throughout the rest of the photograph.

Blog Post #44 – Viewpoint

Disposable Film Camera

For viewpoint, I wanted to incorporate the idea that we don’t see ourselves while driving. II snapped this photo of Wesley, a peer of mine who has been very influential in making me who I am today. A passenger princess will always see you from a different point of view than you see yourself or them.

Blog Post #38 – Rule of Odds

1/250. f/10. ISO 100

The rule of odds falls hand and hand with the rule of thirds. When photographing objects or landscapes, they should always fall into three separate levels and shapes. This photo taken on my trip to the Windwood art district in Miami is an excellent representation of this rule.

Blog Post #35 – Rule of Thirds Emotion

I took this photo in Miami in the Wyndwood district. Using the rule of thirds, this snazzy man and his very cool car was captured. I love that he posed for the photo even though I took it in a quick, split second as I saw him driving by. The emotion this conveys to me is freedom, and an appreciation for being alive.

Blog Post #29 – Facial Symmetry

Left Symmetry, Original Photo, Right Symmetry

Facial symmetry is an odd thing that humans obsess over. As a woman, I’ve spent hours staring back at my own reflection, analyzing every pore on my skin. I’ve learned that symmetry is unrealistic, and the photos we see online and on in magazines are fake and since the i’ve learned to be less harsh on myself. I took this photo bare faced, fresh from sleep to show that realistically nobody is perfect.

Blog Post #26 – Geometry

What Math?

When we pass buildings, especially under construction, we disregard all the inevitable work these laborers complete. Sometimes I forget all the math this job requires; geometry and trigonometry. I’m not the most reliable when it comes to math, so I’ve found a new appreciation for construction and the professions that support it.
