COMEDIC INFLUENCES:

Our first comedic influence was The Office. We liked the filming style with the shaky camera that follows the characters around. We also really enjoyed the wit and sarcasm that The Office has. Our second comedic influence was reality tv. We wanted to replicate the drama that unfolds. We loved the absurd humor and the caricature all shows have. Overall this project was super fun to do. It was hard at first to come up with a cohesive idea but once we got it everything just fell into place.

TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES:

Anecdotes: We told side stories during interviews in the skit.

Blue Humor: A couple of jokes making fun of the other characters were planned.

Blunder: I planned to make fun of Mahaut and Sarah’s characters. Sarah also integrated blunders into her character by making her clumsy.

COMEDIAN ANALYSIS:

Kevin Hart is an American stand-up comedian, and actor. He is known for his high-energy performances and his ability to make audiences laugh with his relatable and often self-deprecating humor. Hart’s comedy is characterized by his height, which he pokes fun of quite often. One of Hart’s most effective comedic techniques is his use of storytelling. He often draws on his own personal experiences and turns them into hilarious anecdotes that resonate with his audience. By sharing his own struggles and failures, Hart is able to connect with his audience on a deeper level and make them feel like they are part of the joke. Another technique that Hart uses is his ability to find humor in everyday situations. He often takes mundane situations and turns them into something funny by exaggerating them or adding a comedic twist. This allows him to connect with his audience on a universal level, as everyone can relate to the everyday struggles and challenges that he talks about. Finally, Hart’s use of physical comedy is another key element of his comedic style. He often uses his body and facial expressions to enhance his jokes and make them even funnier. This allows him to engage his audience on a visual level and create a more immersive and entertaining experience for them.

Amy Schumer is an American stand-up comedian, actress, writer, and producer. She is known for her bold and unapologetic style of comedy, which often tackles controversial topics such as sex, relationships, and gender roles. Schumer’s humor is characterized by her willingness to push boundaries and challenge societal norms, often using her own personal experiences as material for her jokes. One of Schumer’s most effective comedic techniques is her use of self-deprecating humor. She often pokes fun at herself and her own flaws, which makes her more relatable to her audience. By making herself the butt of the joke, Schumer is able to disarm her audience and create a sense of camaraderie with them. This technique also allows her to address sensitive topics in a way that is both humorous and non-threatening. Another technique that Schumer uses is her ability to mix humor with social commentary. Many of her jokes are not just funny, but also serve to highlight important issues such as sexism, body shaming, and the double standards that women face in society. By using humor to address these topics, Schumer is able to engage her audience and make them think critically about these issues in a way that is both entertaining and informative.
