Animation Narrative

In animation, we furthered our ability to use Autodesk Maya & began to animate our characters using motion capture data.

For the first motion capture sequence, I used the Rococo Motion Library to get free mocap data. I applied the imported motions to my character’s skeleton and then spent a lot of time making small adjustments to the angles of the arms, legs, & head to make sure no body parts were passing through each other in the final product.

For the next one, I made a lip sync of my character to a clip from Pokemon. I had created several different mouth shapes on my model that indicate the different sounds we make when we talk. Then, I created key frames of the correct mouth shape to each syllable and imported a dancing clip from the Motion Library just for fun.

This last sequence is from the action reaction project where we had to create a short story with our character. The most difficult part of this assignment was creating & texturing the environment because I did a lot of it by hand.
