For the rule of odds, I wanted to use this picture. Despite it being mundane, I think the composition has a lot of layers to it, which separate themselves in a clear fore/mid/back grounds. I aimed to follow odds with the main two vertical lines, with the concrete pillar and the foreground tree.
For this, I decided to take a picture of this telephone line- the fact that it stands up above everything around it I think shows a neat solitary nature, or a loneliness. The lack of natural color, and the thin qualities also help highlight the gaunt, frail aspects of this looming structure.
I tried to fill the frame using this flower, because I had the macro lens on the camera and wanted to make used of it. I think the effect it gave was kind of lackluster- It’s not a super crisp photo, so I think it would help to have a better light situation and a bigger subject…
We were tasked to show symmetry by messing with our faces- however, I feel as though for my face the different sides don’t seem to pop out so much- as you can see, they have been edited as shown by the highlights and illogical lighting, but still, it’s mostly that I have a slightly thinner left side, but that’s about all that really stands out…
I wasn’t sure of any places to take photos when I first set out for this shot, but I decided that a picture from inside of this rope structure created a mess of different shapes all around, as they provide footholds and such for children to climb around. The result is a composition full of texture created from soft rectangles.
I found myself hard pressed to find something for this shot… and originally was planning on taking photos of various stick snacks, particularly Pejoy and Pretz sticks. (And for the sake of argument, Pejoy is a far superior sweet stick snack to Pocky.) Instead, I opted for a picture of a wooden cutting board, as there were lines to lead to a focal point, though I’m quite dissatisfied… The aperture and lighting could have been much better for this shot.
I didn’t really know what to do here- I was looking for a dark picture to take with the speedlight, since I had only worked with portraits and didn’t want to do a portrait for this picture, so I took a picture of a box of old plushies under my bed hoping that the speedlight would help expose it better. I’m not sure I liked how it came out… Though I have some ideas for speedlights and may redo this prompt in the future.
I wanted to capitalize on this sky and the texture here, and really emphasize the dreamlike ethereal colors in this shot- though the picture itself was a bit fuzzy, I think the textures still show through and the colors are just a bit unrealistic, which I thought added to the weirdly calm aesthetic I was going for.
I wasn’t super inspired for this photo- I decided to use an eraser peeking his head out from behind a metal mouthpiece, such to give this photo some character- though, it doesn’t really make sense for it being in the center.
For balance, I originally took a portrait of an apple- it didn’t work out so well- but I had also taken this photo, which I think balances itself out quite well with the plants on either side of the picture. Also the colors were fantastic, I didn’t have to do any editing at all- though I guess I don’t often edit these photos, anyway.
