This photo’s prompt was quite open-ended as there are many different ways to portray warmth, both in positive and negative ways. I personally perceive warmth to be pleasant and comforting, which I wanted to capture strongly with my subjects.
I thought about things that make one warm and arrived on slippers and a mug of hot tea. I positioned these items in the frame with the intent of achieving both balance in terms of composition and space, as well as contrast in terms of color. I shot these objects over wood (brown is a warm color) and applied a warm white balance to the whole thing, making it appear more orange and cozy.
I think the end result strongly reflects the theme, and I am happy with it.
