Metal Hell

This is another photo taken at New York City. I tried to give the photo a dark, futuristic and dystopian aesthetic and, after multiple edits to the color values making the blues more prominent and the shadows darker, I think I achieved the desired effect. New York City, of course, is rife with industrial grunge and imposing scenery, so it was the perfect location to test out this sort of color grading.

I am particularly interested in the way the smoke plays off of the light, as well as the way it is reflected in the puddles on the street. All of these elements working in tandem serve to produce a photo with an almost otherworldly quality.
