Negative space means leaving a blank area surrounding the main area of focus to give the viewer a place to
“rest.” Negative space is important because it also tells the viewer where to pay attention to, as there is only emphasis to a certain part of an image. For this negative space photo, I wanted for night time so that I could get a photo of a lantern shining in the dark.

Like always, I edited this image in Adobe Photoshop, because the light from the lantern traveled a bit too far, and I wanted the surroundings of this lantern to be dark. Also, the shadow seemed too intense, so I had to make the shadow lighter. I did this by applying the screen blend mode to lighten the shadows, while darkening the surroundings.
