Hey! I’m Jules, I’m a film student graduating class of 2025, and my life has basically revolved around the arts since I was born. I love all things theatre, music, film, and photography and hope to go to school for cinematography and documentary filmmaking. I’ve been in dance, and theatre since I was around 4 and performed in too many shows to count. I’ve loved individual projects that have helped me figure out who I am as an artist and as a person.
I’ve been told I seem quiet and put together, but once you get to know me that is immediately dismantled. While working in a professional environment I aim to present myself as grounded and driven and I think that describes me pretty well too. I’m a self starter and when I want to complete something I work non-stop till I get it. My friends and family make me who I am, I LOVE street photography with my dad, random drives with friends, skateboarding, and playing with my dog. Fun fact: my mom and I have mirroring double piercings!!
When I heard about Freestyle from a theatre friend a few years ago, I was intrigued by the aspect of benefitting off collaboration with the goal to push themselves creatively and maintain focus on academics. I feel like I want to work on looking forward to other’s input since I work alone so much of the time. I am so grateful to Freestyle and can’t wait to see what opportunities and challenges it brings.
Art Reflection
Producing my Art Reflection video was really fun because I got to heavily analyse a piece of art I was already infatuated with. I loved being able to go to the MOMA for the second year in a row and these works would not be seen in other places. I’m very grateful for this trip at Freestyle.
For my reflection, I chose a piece that I thought was moving and unique. “The Visitors” by Ragnar Kjartansson did just that and I thought it also looked really cool having multiple video screens for the installation. I wanted to highlight the work in a way that did it justice and chose a clear photo and song in the audio layer. I then found the 3 wonders and animated them on screen to highlight their impact.
