world building
In English, to start off our World Building project we did a research based essay. I decided to focus on the use of AI with art. I choose to write about this topic as recently AI has rapidly increased in our society and being in Freestyle art is something very important to me. I started seeing AI creations on my for you pages and felt a negative feeling towards it. This powered my curiosity on how other artists where feeling towards this subject. I was able to gain many different perspectives with animators, architects, creative writers, and more all sharing how they felt AI impacted their works and their views.
Surreal Composition Project
To continue the depth of the research topic I had to create a Surrealist image that connected to the use of AI and Art. I wanted to portray the Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam painting. One finger would be a robot showing AI and the use of technology with the other finger a painter. This ties into my research essay topic sharing about the use of AI to create art. I feel that there was two words coming together that can completely change artists life.
To create this image, I used Adobe Photoshop. I began by gathering images from the web and organizing them into a folder. Next, I used Photoshop to remove the backgrounds from each photo, saving the edited images once again into a new folder. For the background, I combined two images: one with a futuristic vibe and one with a Renaissance feel. Using my junior-year knowledge of blend modes in Photoshop, I mixed the two images together to create a new background. I then added other images, adjusting them to my liking, and applied the “Texturize” filter. However, I still felt something was missing. To enhance the composition, I drew a white dot in the middle of the canvas and applied the “Gaussian Blur” effect, which created a glowing effect.
Overall, I am thrilled with how this project turned out. I believe it effectively portrays the theme of new technology, specifically AI, trying to merging with art.
Enhanced World-Building Presentation Video
After the Essay was finished in English we began the world building process creating character’s, setting, and conflicts. My group with Jules F, Julia K, and Roberto A decided to make our story about hypothetical 2030 World War III. We had a lot of great collaboration moments in preparation for our presentation. We decided to meet at Starbucks and practice our parts and get everything finalized. The presentation was about 10 minutes and we talked through each act and the rundown of character’s in our story. It was really nice to have the Q&A at the end to deepen our story for the audience and have them be engaged into our story.
