Welcome to my Portfolio Page! While at Freestyle Academy I spent one year in Film and my second in Design. Below is my proudest work done at Freestyle Academy:
Narrative
My first film created at Freestyle was my narrative film called, “Game Over”. For this project my partner and I spend five months pitching our idea, storyboarding, learning various film techniques, and learning how to edit on Premiere Pro. Trying to incorporate all of the film rules such as the 180-degree rule, and Griffiths Pattern, and ensuring no jump cuts made this process long but very rewarding in the end!
The film is about a girl who goes to the arcade and really wants the stuffed animal prize. She puts effort into trying to win this prize but when it comes for her to claim it two mean girls make her feel embarrassed about her choices. The mean girls are both wearing bracelets and the girl thinks if she gets a bracelet it will make her cooler. Little does she know this bracelet is cursed. Many unfortunate things will happen to this girl. What will happen? What will she do?
This film was able to win the following award with an honorable mention at the Vienna International Film Awards:
Documentary
The following film project was the Documentary Unit which is where I created the film, “Happy Hearts”. This project was five interviews highlighting the elderly community asking then about how they found happiness. There was a great range of diverse answers with my personal favorite interviewee being 104-year-old Elzene Yancey. The advice shared brought me much inspiration on ways to be positive!
Below are the following awards we won for this film:
watercolor name:
This project is by far my favorite project Ive done in Design. Using Photoshop and it’s Symmetry tool, I wrote my name in cursive which was honestly a challenge for me as I forgot how to write in cursive. Also ensuring that when mirrored across the horizontal access it looked nice I had to redo my name over 50 times. For this project, we were supposed to make draw things that were related to things we liked. I love being in nature so after writing my name and setting up the symmetry along the x-axis I started filling in the letters drawing different nature elements. Below is my finished cursive name before it was printed onto watercolor paper!
This is my finished product with all of the letters watercolored. I loved how this turned out and found that this was a very therapeutic process. There was a couple bumps with painting as erasing wasn’t an option and sometimes I would accidentally go outside the lines. I learned adding more water then using a paper towel was the best way to reverse any potential mistakes!
Clothing:
While at Freestyle I designed two sweatshirts one in Digital Media with a hot press and the other I sewed! Hand sewing was a really time consuming project but as shown below I am beyond happy how it turned out. Both of these sweatshirts I do wear on a daily basis and I think Freestyle Academy offering these projects to create something you can personally use was really exciting!
Experimental Music
As one of our final projects to end the year in Digital Media, I learned how to use Pro Tools. I learned the basics of different instruments then the world of creativity was ours. My song had inspiration from many instrumental pieces such as, “Jacob and the Stone” by Emile Mosseri, “Present” by Lloyd Vaan, and “The Sound of Myself” by Disasterpeace. I originally wanted to make a rap beat but quickly found new inspiration as I was playing random chords at home on my piano. Once I had a base idea I spent numerous hours tweaking and adding different parts. I hoped to spark emotion through this song with the harmonious cords.
