Personal Projects
Outside of doing art and animation in school for Freestyle, I mainly create 2d pieces although I’m trying to create animations outside of a school setting.

A bunny sleeping with sheep jumping over it. For this piece, I was inspired by these cute digital and painterly pieces I’ve seen on pinterest (by no particular artist) and they were typically of cute little animals or people in a cartoonish style. I don’t know what specifically made me want to do a bunny counting sheep but I tend to like to draw a simple bunny character, like I did in my lip sync.

This piece is a redraw of the character Kirara from the series Jujutsu Kaisen. I’m really proud of this because I tried a lot of new things regarding brushes, use of color, and coloring style. Something in particular I like about this was how I colored in the hair. I remember coloring very softly near the edges of the hair with the Nikko Rull brush in Procreate, then doing light brushstrokes along the ends of the hair with the 6B Pencil.

Narrative
The parts I animated are from 0:16 – 0:45

The same background I redrew and colored as how I would make it today

My animation reel features various animation projects I’ve done throughout my time at Freestyle.
Storyboards
Something I really enjoy doing is creating storyboards when I have an idea for an animation as a way of getting all my ideas down in the moment; as you can see, this causes a lot of blank areas and barely coherent descriptions. Here are various storyboards with most of them being for my own ideas unrelated to assignments.

During my Junior year Narrative 1 animation, my group had to cut back on a lot of scenes causing the full vision of our story to not be created. Someday I would really love to fully animate the story we had in mind. Since we each were in charge of one scene I only have one story board of when the fish is in the convinience store, SEA-VS so I decided to use what I remember discussing for the story

This storyboard is inspired by my lip sync animation from Junior year. When I showed my mom this project, she really loved it and kept telling me how she wanted to see more of it and have it put into an actual story. What I came up with was a story about someone who’s addicted to a game (the game shown in my lip sync) and invests a lot of their own real money into the game and isolates themselves to constantly play it which causes them to lose contact with friends.
