Film Noir

ISO 100 f/7.1 1/125 sec

When I think of the film noir genre, the first image that comes to mind is that of the brooding detective, alone in his office with the shutters pulled halfway closed. The particular effect that this creates with the lighting was interesting, and also easy to replicate – I covered all the entrances to the room and narrowly opened the shutters in the picture. To further emulate the image of a detective, I brought in a notebook, pen, and a few old family photos we had lying around. During editing, I of course made the image black and white, and added some grain to make it seem more like an old movie.
