Funny enough, one of the things I am grateful for is boba. Aside from the fact that it tastes good, I feel that boba helped me become more secure in my Identity. When I first moved to America, I went through the process of assimilation and strived to become as “American” as I could. Because I didn’t see many representation of asian culture in mainstream media, I didn’t see my asian identity as anything worth celebrating in the American environment. When boba became popular, it was cool seeing something from asian culture being popularized in the western world. I felt that this was one of the things that made me more accepting of my own identity.
