
In my local downtown area, there is a very interesting public art installation that I had never taken much time to examine. After considering the piece for a while, I realized that the majority of the artwork relies on negative space. As photographed above, the patterns and shapes that compose the piece are seen in the spaces between the material, not in the material itself. This photo was taken with my camera lens poking through a space on one side of the piece to capture an interior view of the other.
