Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

Multi-Layered Art Project

This project allowed students to draw multiple layers of art and stack them on top of one another to create a 3D result. For my multi-layered art project, I chose the medium of laser-cut wood. I loved how it looked and felt like a professional sculpture of some sort and could be displayed on a wall.

Once the wood was cut, I painted the bottom layer a darker color so that there would be a more clear contrast between the two pieces.

After finishing the Wood Art Project, we all made two videos to explain how it was created digitally and assembled physically. I felt inspired by past freestyle students and their creative title screens, and did my best to create one of my own. Each video has the same title screen with different colors to help tie them to one another. At first, I struggled with the lighting on my digital assembly video, but it helped to use two lights and keyframe them so they would appear at different times. This kept the lights from getting too intense at some points and too dim at others. Next time, I would take progress pictures of my art as I make it so that my audience could better grasp my process beyond a single time lapse.
