Bio– Quinn

I’m Quinn, a senior attending Freestyle Academy. I’m looking to major in digital art during college and love storyboarding and animation. I listen to podcasts while I draw, walk, or do chores because they allow me to stay concentrated on my task while also serving as great entertainment and inspiration.

Bio- Alayna

My name is Alayna. As I am writing this, I am a senior at Mountain View High School and Freestyle Academy. Since elementary school, I have been an artist who has dived into multiple types of creative arts including drawing, painting, clay making, crocheting, cardboard cutting, and more. I focus to turn my hobby into a career, as I am majoring in fine arts and graphic design for college. Outside of doing art, I also enjoy spending time with my friends and really enjoy partaking in other arts outside of traditional crafts like playing musical instruments and video editing.

Bio- Leanna

My name is Leanna Chun, I am a senior at Mountain View High School, and I am a student studying at Freestyle Academy. I have always been interested in art and graphic design, so I decided to join Freestyle to learn new skills and find other people who have the same passion as me. Outside of school, I like to draw, hang out with friends, and volunteer for my community.

Introduction

The podcast project is an opportunity for us to express ourselves through one of the most easily accessible forms of media known to man. Anyone can publish a podcast on sites like Spotify and Youtube, and with technology’s swift advancements, a phone mic can get you pretty far. Also, if you are in a minority or a traditionally discriminated against group in professional media, the ability to broadcast yourself to the world can be incredibly freeing and fulfilling.

As an avid podcast listener, I have extensive experience with what podcasts are and how they are made, but not much genre variation in my library. I usually listen to humor podcasts; one example is The Adventure Zone, which is a DND podcast that relies greatly on group dynamic and improv. TAZ inspired me to use music as a transition tool between different sections of our work, as it is a great way to set the tone of your podcast as well as establish a clear timeline.

Reflection

The Podcast Project is a great opportunity to take any little curiosities you have and entertain them through research and storytelling. I learned a lot more about dreams than I expected to going into this assignment, and was amazed at some of the newest advancements in an area of research I assumed was overall stagnant. The process of making a podcast was not as daunting as I had expected going in, and I could see myself doing it again in the future if there’s a topic I’m really interested in. My number one tip for beginning podcasters is to check your audio periodically as you record, because you’ll feel immense regret the second you realize you lost an hour of recording.
