Intro

I’m genuinely so glad I chose to take Freestyle this year. Despite the workload, this program pushed me to do things that I never would’ve done on my own, and I grew so much as a result. Not only that, but the tight-knit community made me feel so welcomed, and I loved being in Freestyle with every single one of my classmates.

Zenith

These are screenshots from my Zenith project, where I made a webtoon called Leave No Mark. For this project, I used a lot of experimental techniques for this that I had never tried before, and I am very proud of the result. I had lots of fun trying a new format, and hopefully this is just the beginning of a much more expansive story in the years to come!

Here’s a link to the full Webtoon page, if you would like to view the whole thing! There’s a lot more than I had space to show here.

Surrealism

This is the surrealism project I made for Digital Media. Coincidentally, this was also based off of the prologue of Leave No Mark (which I had written out in prose months before either project). I used a 3D model of my main character, Maki, that I had made in animation class. I then layered and compiled many images on it and painted over it all to add details and make it more cohesive. The painting part was the most time-consuming.

Character Model

This is a character model I modeled, detailed, and textured in my Animation elective. I’m really proud of this, actually. I’m very inexperienced with non-human characters, so I’m proud that I managed to pull this off. I also like how the details turned out, like the ridges under the mushroom cap and the reflectivity of the eyes. If I were to do it again, though, I’d make the feet look more like real bark, rather than fake plastic brown stuff.

Personal Mandala

This is the first big project I made in Digital Media. The prompt was to “create a mandala based on who you are, metaphorically or literally.” Naturally, I chose literally, and made a mandala out of body parts and anatomical features. The mandala includes hands, teeth, eyes, intestines, ribs, veins, and more. I had trouble drawing it in Illustrator, but I like how it turned out. I think it’s silly.

Reel

I also included my Reel, which includes more of my favorite work!
