Documentary

Introduction

“How do you creatively and truthfully portray a significant person, group, place, idea, or issue in the community?” For the documentary project, we were challenged to do just that. This project was our most fun yet most stressful project yet. Since I am in design, we wrote, designed, and printed a book. There were a lot of ups and downs but with the help of my peers and my teachers, I was able to Finish my book and I am extremely happy with the finished product.

Why I chose this:

Something that continues to inspire me is fashion. Even as a child I was amazed and intrigued by the idea of being able to express yourself through what you wear. So when I heard about the documentary project I was very excited and I knew that I wanted to focus on fashion. Even though my idea did not follow the exact structure that was recommended, I took a chance and went for it. i wanted to interview multiple people on the same idea instead of one person with support interviews. For this project, I focused on what inspires fashion, especially in high school, and what is special and interesting about everyones own self-expression.

Reflection

For previous years, students got far more time to work on their project. however this year due to covid and other reasons, this project has a much shorter deadline that we had to follow. This created a lot of stress. Though with the help and support of those around me i was able to submit a product that I am extremely happy with. If I were to do this project again, I would want to interview even more people to get a deeper understanding of what inspires people to find themselves through fashion.
