Photograph of lightbulb in lamp
Aperture: 8, Shutter Speed: 1/40, ISO: 3200

I named this Photograph “Lampflower”, because the streaks of light at the top look a bit like flower petals, and the lightbulb reminds me of the sternum. By placing the lightbulb in the center of the frame, it makes it pop out of you and seems a bit intimidating. The cool color palette and contrast the dark foreground try to communicate the feeling of isolation or loneliness, like when you’re sitting beside a window and the light shines through closed curtains. This is actually the first picture I’ve taken in a portrait orientation, and it changes the way I compose a photograph quite a bit because it’s so narrow. I think I will try to use this to my advantage more in the future.
