“Tell a story in sports”
This past weekend, I got to watch my freshman-year younger brother play his one and only Ultimate (frisbee) game as part of his school’s Ultimate club. I myself have never played the game competitively, but I have played it for fun before, and it is honestly one of the most unique sports out there.

While Ultimate isn’t particularly unique in its basic principle (it is essentially a mix of football and basketball, with a frisbee), it is a sport that has long prided itself on being a bastion of progressiveness in sports. Often, Ultimate leagues feature co-ed teams, self-refereeing, and other cooperation-focused game rules.

This game that my brother played was, in fact, a co-ed game, and I honestly think that was a neat experience for him. He’s only ever played on boys’ teams, so I believe having a whole new community for him to connect with, along with being new to the school he’s now going to, has given him a whole new angle of sports to belong to.
