Introduction
The Reflections Project at Freestyle Academy challenges us to explore the question, “Who am I?” Through writing, photography, digital art, and multimedia projects, we reflect on our identities, values, and personal experiences. Throughout this unit, I experimented with new creative techniques and learned to express different parts of myself through visual storytelling. This website showcases my work from the Reflections Project and the ways I explored my identity through art and design.
Throughout the Reflections Unit, I learned how much I value creativity, individuality, and self-expression. In my “Why I Design” essay, I explored how, as we grow older, we often lose the freedom to express ourselves without worrying about what others think. I realized that design, especially architecture, is my way of holding onto that creativity while also making a positive impact on other people’s lives. Through the projects in my different classes, I was able to explore these ideas visually and experiment with different ways of expressing myself. My work reflects my core values because it represents my desire to think independently, stay creative, and create things that are meaningful to both myself and others.
Why I [Design]
For my Reflections Project, I wrote an essay titled Why I Design, exploring my passion for creativity and architecture. In my essay, I reflect on how self-expression changes as we grow older and how societal expectations can discourage individuality. I discuss how design allows me to hold onto the creativity and freedom I experienced as a child while also giving me the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others. Through this essay, I explore why architecture is meaningful to me and how it connects to my values of creativity, individuality, and self-expression.
