Leading Lines

1/50 f1.8 ISO400

We had already used leading lines before in a photo challenge, but this week we were encouraged to use it in food photography. I was thinking how I could use leading lines in the furniture around me such as the table or outside factors, but then I realized I could use less obvious leading lines within the subject itself. The leading lines in this photo are the carrots, which point to the rest of the vegetables. They’re not prominent in the frame as I was originally thinking, but they subtly draw your eye to the main subject.

In photoshop, I changed the colors to be more saturated and used an overlay layer with the brush tool to separate the subject from the background. The tablecloth had similar colors to the vegetables, so they blended in a bit but in the end they were able to stand out.
