I used the rule of thirds to show emotion by photographing a wilted flower. It’s actually the same rose I used in our junior narrative film. I never threw it away because I was too lazy. The emotion I chose to show is loneliness. The flower is photographed small in the frame and completely separate from the other petals. It’s also in the bottom third which makes it feel even smaller. If it was in the center it would have looked more important (which is not the emotion I’m going for) so placing it in a third makes a big difference.
I photographed it against my white bookcase and blurred out the lines in Photoshop so the background is completely white. I also did color correction and brightened up the exposure.
