love story

This week’s prompt felt alien to me at first. Everyone experiences love, surely, but what makes it a story? If it’s just the way it’s told, I’d be delusional if I thought that I could communicate an entire Freytag’s pyramid, complete with romance and captivating style, through a camera lens. I’ve now realized that I don’t have to. Photography isn’t English class unless your teacher makes you write out a caption; I can leave an image of any old charismatic, adorable boy under the prompt of a love story, and my audience will draw their own conclusions. That’s what art is, isn’t it? They call it analysis or exposition, but this lovesick teenager knows better. Project your own perverted preconceptions onto this beautiful creature, he’s used to it.
