Welcome to my page! My name is Ava Bennett and in 2021-2022 I was a senior at Mountain View High School. I have always loved art and have taken many classes on painting and the physical arts so I was super excited to broaden my knowledge of digital arts. I did the elective design in Freestyle. I chose this because I am a visual person and enjoy formatting a space and creating new and cool things. Some other things I did at MVHS is that I ran track and was in ASB activities where I plan and create many things. I value peace, respect, and organization. I can’t wait to show you all of my projects!
Things that I absolutely love are reading books, hanging out with my friends, and traveling. I am very curious about the world around me and love to learn new things. I can’t wait for all of the great things that I will get to do while in freestyle! Some things I expect for this upcoming year are to learn how to use photoshop and other online tools, write lyrical and personal essays, and build my knowledge of digital media.
I have loved my time at Freestyle. Coming in as a first-year senior I was super nervous but I have been able to meet so many amazing people and learned new skills. I feel a lot more prepared for college and future career paths because of freestyle and because of the projects we have done, I feel. a lot more confident. I am so glad I joined freestyle and it has turned into my favorite part of the day.
End of Year Reflection
I would say I have had a very transformational year. When I came to Freestyle at the beginning of the year I was so nervous and intimidated but I have come to completely love the people, classes, and work. I had never used any Adobe apps or done any digital art so my skills definitely expanded and grew a lot. I got to learn how to take and edit photos, paint in Photoshop, design posters, market products, and so much more. I built an entire website, became proficient in many Adobe apps, and made new friends. I love how by joining this new community I have been able to learn valuable skills on the computer but also for life. I grew as a person while at Freestyle as well. I have become a lot more confident in my creative choices and work. I have felt unsure and insecure most of my life, especially when it comes to art, but as I have built up new skills and exercised my creative muscles I was able to grow into my style. I can not be more grateful for all that I have learned at Freestyle and how fun and engaging every single class and project has been.
