Humor

Intro

For our last unit in English, we studied humor. We began by reading Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut which was a satirical piece on war and life. We learned about black humor, exaggeration, irony, and much more comedic tools. Before we started our project I wrote a study on two humorists. We had to compare and contrast these two comedians and their work. We also needed to analyze how they have affected us and what we liked from them. In the study, we also wrote up a plan for our project and proposed it to Mr. Greco.

From this study, Mia and I began to brainstorm what we wanted to do for our project. We decided on doing a satirical parody of youtube and content creators. We wanted it to be exaggerated, ironic, and problematic. Below is the script that we outlined for our video.

From our script, we began filming. We went to the school and brought our props and script. After all of our filming, we began editing and creating the visuals and effects for the final video. We filmed the analysis and put all of the video clips together to create this final product.

Reflection

I really loved this unit for English class. Humor is a big part of my life and it was interesting to learn more about it and be able to dive deep into the technical aspects of humor as well. Being able to have fun with my partner Mia and just create something that people will think is fun and interesting was really enjoyable. I am so happy with our finished product and when we showed it to the class they loved it. I think we captured the idea of an apology video and the hectic vibe of a youtube video.
