Who Am I?

This was an amazing first semester of Freestyle and I accomplished and learned so much. Coming into Freestyle I had no knowledge about how to work any of the adobe apps so my goal was to work to understand as much as I could. I met my goal and I now feel confident in Photoshop, Illustrator, and even Dreamweaver. Of course, I can always improve and gain more knowledge though. In design, I learned how to use my camera to get different kinds of shots, edit photos in Photoshop and create branding on Illustrator. In digital media, I learned how to paint on Photoshop which was super cool and tricky. I also learned how to code and build a website with different components. In English, I learned so much about how to write a personal essay and a lyrical essay.

Since this overall unit was “Who am I?” I was able to learn a lot about myself. I really valued all of the creative freedom that we were given with all of our projects. I was able to explore the past and messages of my life while writing my personal essay. I had to evaluate what made me, me and then put it in writing. Also, I found that I really love working on the details. While doing the acrylic painting in digital media, I spent hours on the details and getting it as perfect as I could. Lastly, I feel like a learned about my own style and preferences. With our projects in design being very open I was able to explore what I liked and disliked and find what worked for me. I realized I like certain things and that my art should reflect that. I’m so grateful for this time to think about what makes me who I am.
