Miami is notorious for it’s vibrant street art. This photo I captured embodies the colorful walls you see, but the colors themselves left up to imagination.

Miami is notorious for it’s vibrant street art. This photo I captured embodies the colorful walls you see, but the colors themselves left up to imagination.
This is Maya. She is the definition of love and light. She never fails to make those around her feel safe. Talking to Maya is like reciving a warm hug on a rainy day. She is strong and powerful. She is one of the strongest human beings I know. She keeps so much to herself while providing for everyone else. Their needs come before her own and she isn’t content until they are. This sixteen year old embodies everything I hope to be.
I took this photo when visiting Miami because I think it really captures the need to fill the frame. The ocean is vast and seems almost infinite. You can fill the whole picture frame and more.
This is my little sister, Maya. Maya is strong and independent. She is motivated and kind. She sees the good in people and knows how to be happy for what she has. I love her and look up to her more than she knows.
One of the worst habits my sisters and I grew up with was our need to sleep in. We will leave the house no earlier than 11am, but most days you can find us in bed at noon.
Left Symmetry, Original Photo, Right Symmetry
Facial symmetry is an odd thing that humans obsess over. As a woman, I’ve spent hours staring back at my own reflection, analyzing every pore on my skin. I’ve learned that symmetry is unrealistic, and the photos we see online and on in magazines are fake and since the i’ve learned to be less harsh on myself. I took this photo bare faced, fresh from sleep to show that realistically nobody is perfect.
My parents divorced when I was 14 and the change was hard. One thing my parents do unknowingly, however, is they each make pancakes for breakfast once a week.
Exit signs aren’t the most intriguing of all signs, but they are important. There was a recent mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas that left 21 people dead. These were elementary schoolers; little kids. These kids had no idea that they might need to know where an exit is, let alone every exit. I sometimes wonder if children were taught the importance of knowing the exits near them, more children would have survived that day. I cannot express the importance of knowing where your nearest exits are at all times.
When we pass buildings, especially under construction, we disregard all the inevitable work these laborers complete. Sometimes I forget all the math this job requires; geometry and trigonometry. I’m not the most reliable when it comes to math, so I’ve found a new appreciation for construction and the professions that support it.
Strangers are a difficult story to tell because we don’t really know what is going on inside their heads now do we? The narrative that I come up with may not be what is truly taking place. However, I think these two people are both craving affection and acceptance.
