Self-Portrait

A golf trophy from 2016 and a few pieces of jewelry gifted by relatives.

The trophy in the photo was from a local program that held tournaments every month. The points from each tournament added up and a trophy was given at the end of the year to the top three players. I won this trophy when I was 12 and I remember feeling proud and completely overjoyed that day, not only from winning a trophy, but from being surrounded by my friends that I had gained through playing golf. Since then, I have had less time to participate in these tournaments and many of us have moved on, leaving me missing my friends. Inside the trophy, I placed two necklaces, one bracelet, and one ring. All of these pieces were gifted by my extended family residing in Taiwan. I still remember the exact moment I received these precious pieces, and how I was in awe of how beautiful and delicate jewelry could be. My relatives knew how much I loved jewelry as I had begun making my own pieces around that time. It’s interesting to think how one small object can hold a meaningful story behind it. Through these two interests, as well as my connection to my family, I believe this photo represents a part of me that will never change.
