Warmth

Small green teddy bear from my elementary school librarian when I graduated.

The teddy bear photographed above was gifted to me a little over four years ago when I was graduating from my elementary school, Loyola. The school’s librarian, Mrs. Burns, gave it to me so I could keep a part of the library and her after I moved on to middle school. During my years at Loyola, specifically in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade, my friends and I would spend almost every lunch period in the library reading books and chatting. It was my favorite part of the day and I especially loved getting book recommendations from Mrs. Burns. She was an important figure to me, and I am so grateful for her. The books I read during those few years are endless and I would not trade the time I spent reading for the world.
