Who am I?
My name is Hector Chang, and I was a Los Altos High School student attending Freestyle Academy in the years 2021-2023. I value kindness and compassion, and I also highly value friends and family.
Outside of school, I really enjoy going out with friends and listening to music while doing all sorts of different things. Some of my hobbies are playing badminton, weightlifting, cooking, and fashion. Some of my favorite foods/cuisines are Chinese and Japanese, and my favorite drink is boba tea.
Starting at freestyle was a very unique experience, and I did not know how to do many of the things I can do now. For example, video editing on Premiere Pro, making music on Pro tools, creating art on Adobe Illustrator, and all sorts of other tools. I think I’ve grown in many ways of becoming an artist, and I’ve explored countless aspects of the creative world.
Freestyle Academy is an amazing program, in short. It’s so unique and special compared to normal school, and while it may not be everyone’s thing, it’s 100% a program to take for someone interested in art or any electives. Even though I am not pursuing art, I still now have much more experience in various fields(video editing, digital media, etc) and am very grateful to have physical proof of my work in the form of printed out paintings, my physical wood Mandala, and my films which are uploaded to YouTube. It has personally influenced me to expand my interests instead of focusing on just what is conventional, and I know that there are a wide variety of fields I may be interested in pursuing besides business.
