Introduction

Our reflections unit was mainly focused on discovering and being able to express ourselves into the countless art forms we have the option to discover and learn at Freestyle Academy. With it being college application season as well, the added work from Freestyle all came together to help me answer the question “Who am I”. While it sounds cheesy, I genuinely think being reflective and reaching into a deeper part of yourself can make you understand yourself in a way you’ve never thought of before. The most important works we did in this unit are the Mandalas we drew on Illustrator, the watercolor painting we did for Photoshop, and our video essay for Film, which are all listed on this page. The following is a list of my “essence objects” – things that are important to me – which we brainstormed in our English college essay unit.

  • My bed
  • My red shirt with an Indian chicken on it
  • The two places that I call home
  • The accumulation of birthday/thank you cards in my drawer
  • My bike
  • My panda plushy
  • My dumbells
  • My worn out white shoes
  • My badminton racket
  • My white necklace from Mom
  • My camera roll
  • My water bottle
  • All of my clothes

Having the opportunity to spend a whole unit writing my personal essay gave me a lot of insight as a person, and allowed me to write one of the best essays I’ve ever written about myself. It being very personal to me, it is a harder to share topic, but I’m more than happy to share with you all the other projects I have completed below.
