Creative Staged + Depth of Field
March 31, 2025 By logann 50mm 1/40 f2.0 ISO100 For this photo, I utilized a shallow depth of field, focusing on the scissors and hair comb in the foreground. Lately I've been thinking of getting a haircut. But like the blurry mirror, it's a bit hard to visualize how it'll turn out. For now, a potential haircut will just be some fuzzy idea to ponder whenever I see a reflection.
Low Angles
By logann 24mm 1/50 f2.8 ISO5000 This was a recently made Lego set and a cardboard art project I had made years ago. I shot from a low angle to make the latter object more imposing, and the former, empowered. In reality, the helmet is much bigger than the tree. Yet from this perspective, with the tree in the foreground, in focus, the leaves and branches reach higher than the helmet. It reaches even past the eye, my present and future growing further than the past.
Rule of Thirds Emotion
By logann 24mm 1/125 f2.8 ISO100 I placed the otter off-center to create a feeling of aloneness and separation, which worked with the lighting; I made sure it was placed a bit out of the lit-up area. The otter stayed on the shadowy side of the photo.
Fill The Frame
By logann 50mm 1/50 f8.0 ISO6400 These are the beads of a bracelet that broke recently. It was really important to me, so now that it's gone, the bracelet is occupying a lot of my headspace. The full frame of the beads is representative of this.
