Future

Inspiration
May 31, 2025 By logann 24mm 1/1000 f5.0 ISO6400 The future is weird. It’s non-tangible, almost impossible to predict. Like an overexposed camera, the future in all its possibilities can feel overwhelming. But hope can still endure. I have hope that there will be instruments to make life interesting. I hope that there will be a place to sit down and rest. I hope that a gentle breeze comes by once in a while to push me whichever direction. I hope a light stays alongside me, waiting to be turned on. And I hope that a window stays uncovered, open to the scenery beyond. Life can be observed, and life can be lived. That flat, blown-out white is a canvas. And art is exactly what I’m in the mood for.

Frame within the Frame

Composition
May 31, 2025 By logann 50mm 1/250 f2.0 ISO100 I had my brother's hands frame the photos frame, framing the frame of the phone, which framed the photo of the trees. Very frame-y.

Food

Inspiration
April 30, 2025 By logann 50mm 1/50 f5.6 ISO6400 Look! It's a whole bunch of bananas. Puns aside, for the food prompt, I chose my favorite fruit: bananas. There's always a seemingly endless supply on my family's dining table. Bananas were always the convenient food, the available food, and of course, one of the most delicious snacks.

Deadly Sins

Story Telling
March 31, 2025 By logann 24mm 1/50 f10 ISO16000 Gluttony is destructive. Satiation demands a void to be created. And my dad ate an orange that I had set out and was about to eat.

Creative Staged + Depth of Field

Composition
March 31, 2025 By logann 50mm 1/40 f2.0 ISO100 For this photo, I utilized a shallow depth of field, focusing on the scissors and hair comb in the foreground. Lately I've been thinking of getting a haircut. But like the blurry mirror, it's a bit hard to visualize how it'll turn out. For now, a potential haircut will just be some fuzzy idea to ponder whenever I see a reflection.

Musical

Inspiration
February 28, 2025 By logann 24mm 1/4 f8.0 ISO1250 This is my grandpa’s stringed instrument collection. As the years passed and he lost the cognitive and physical ability to use them, they’re in my care now. Resting on a shelf he assembled, on books he owned, his legacy and knowledge live on through me.

Film Noir

Story Telling
February 28, 2025 By logann 24mm 1/50 f8.0 ISO100 Using Adobe Photoshop, I tried to implement various aesthetic choices related to Noir cinematography. Among them were heavy shadows, few strong light sources, and of course, the monotone color scheme. Additionally, I had some negative space to add to the dark mood, and centered the light, breaking the rule of thirds in an attempt to make the viewer feel a bit uneasy.

Small vs Large

Inspiration
January 31, 2025 By logann 24mm 1/40 f2.8 ISO1250 For this photo, I wanted to try applying personalities to my flower pots. I achieved this by placing the “evil” jack o' lantern pot in the foreground. It appeared larger and imposing, despite only being about half the size of the other pot in reality.

Long Shutter Speed Exposure

Story Telling
January 31, 2025 By logann 24mm 4/1 f22 ISO100 In the Chinese Zodiac, 2024 was the year of the dragon. And so, in anticipation of 2025’s year of the snake, I used a long shutter speed to blur the symbol of the year past and elongate it to a shape more reminiscent of the coming year.
