Hi! My name is Tae Yoon. I was a MVHS student from 2019-2023 and a Freestyle student from 2022-2023. In the Fall of 2023, I will be attending UC Davis and possibly major in Communications. I joined Freestyle in my senior year as the first year senior, so one year later than other people. I decided to join Freestyle because I have always been interested in producing art work such as digital art, music, and film but haven’t had much chance to do it myself. After the quarantine, going back to school in my Junior year, I heard about the program from some of the friends that were enrolled in Freestyle. I got interested in joining the program after talking to them about it. I’m glad I joined Freestyle even if it was only for a year, and I’ve gained great experiences throughout the year.
Outside of school I like to dance, listen to music, hang out with people, get boba, and watch movies.
I believe I have grown a lot the past year through Freestyle Academy. I learned, experienced, and discovered many new skills. Especially as a first year senior, there were a lot of things I did not know compared to other second year senior classmates at the beginning of the year. I was completely new to making films with professional equipment and editing programs but I was able to learn and grow with the help of my peers and the teachers at Freestyle. I would say a great thing about Freestyle is that not only we produce things ourselves but we get to see and get inspired by other students in the community as well. I will really miss the times working and hanging out at Freestyle, especially at the new building.
