Digital Painting

Pastel Painting

Bubble Reflection

For this project I chose a bubble photo to paint because I thought it’d be fun and interesting to paint the reflections inside the bubble. The challenging part was having to consistently compare back to the original photo and paint as similar as possible. Especially inside the bubble was very hard to color in as I had to blend in all the colors while still including the reflection on the bubble. Although in the end I was happy with the results and I think it was a meaningful project.

Watercolor Painting

Galaxy Rose

I’ve always loved the idea of watercolor painting. When I came to this project at first, I was amazed by the digital brushes and technique that made digital watercolor painting possible. Then I thought to myself I should try something that I couldn’t in real life with paper and watercolor because it is too difficult with the water blurring all over. The first thing I thought of was the galaxy as I used to love to watercolor paint the sky and stars when I was little. Then I came across the idea of painting a rose but making the flower petals as a galaxy. I wanted the flowers to look like a piece of the universe. It was challenging at first as I wasn’t just following a photo but creating my own painting. But after referring to many rose and space paintings, I ended with my own creation of Galaxy Rose. I am very proud of it as I finished the painting how I envisioned it at first and I hope other people can see the universe in the two roses as well.

Watercolor Painting Effect

Watercolored Photos

I choose photos taken by me for this project because I thought it would be more meaningful if the photos are also by me. It was interesting to learn how to make photos look like watercolor paintings since I’ve seen those watercolor effects in different places but never knew how to actually convert a photo like that. I’m glad now I know how to do this.
