Mandala

Black & White Mandala

Mandala Reveal Build Video

I was inspired by my favorite objects such as the moon, stars, butterflies, snowflakes, and cats. I tried alternating the shapes of the objects to make it look more interesting into different shapes on the mandala. One struggle I had was not knowing what to draw in for blank spaces and including shapes that represent my core values. I am most proud of eventually finding and including some of my essence objects and finishing with a result I am satisfied with. I will use the ideas I learned on this project in the future projects by contributing my creativity and my core values into my art work. This project helped me understand better about the other mandala arts made by other artists. Previously, I did not think deeply about what essence quality the artist might have incorporated into their art work, but after making my own mandala, I now see other art works more thoroughly in terms of details and messages they’re trying to convey.

Colored Mandala

Black and White mandala Colored mandala

I was inspired by pastel colors for this project. While working on this colored mandala, I had a lot of technical difficulties with Adobe Illustrator. Especially because it was my first time using colors and brush tools in Adobe Illustrator application. I overcame this challenge and eventually finished the project with a satisfying result by trying my best to stay patient and taking time to get through it. It was difficult but also fun to see my mandala getting filled with pretty colors. I am proud of using different tons of colors and gradation of the colors.

Engraved Mandala

I am proud to see my mandala design laser engraved on an acrylic as I envisioned. I loved the different LED colors that shone on the engraved mandala. I named this piece “Moonlight Maze” because one of my top essence objects that I think has a deep connection to me is the moon, and I thought my mandala somewhat looks like a maze. This title seemed like a perfect match as I thought the LED light could be seen as the moonlight. I am very happy with my final result and I hope it gives inspiration to others as well.
