Conceptual

poetry

In English, we learned about the haiku style of writing poetry. We took a look at the history of haiku writing, and then created our own based off of the concept statement given to us.

Once we had a final draft of our poems, we then moved on to Digital Media, where we made photo haikus to visually represent our poetry.

Final Haiku Video

Throughout our conceptual unit in English, we built up our skills with poetry up until we could produce our own free verse and ekphrastic poems. We spent a lot of time refining our work, and creating detailed intention statements in order to practice explaining our art.

After we had completed the drafting process for our poems, we then used our Digital Media skills to create a photoshopped image of our free verse poems. The free verse poem that I made also happened to be an ekphrastic poem.

Photoshop Blend Modes

In digital media this year, we practiced our photoshop skills by editing images. We used different blend modes to change the brightness of certain areas in our image, and also to overlay two images together.

Film

In film class this year, we focused a lot on our camera work and on how to build a story that could captivate an audience. So far, i’ve enjoyed myself immensely in this class. Film and video creation has always been something that I have enjoyed doing, and this class has only made that even more true. This past semester, I have valued working on the aspects of film that I struggle with, and improving them the best I can so I can make even better films.

Experimental Film Synopsis

If you read through this, then watch my film, you’ll see that nothing is the same as what I said it would be. This goes to show how making films can change and adapt as you go through trial and error creating your story before the actual production. A synopsis is basically a draft of what we think our storyline is going to be for our film, which then has to be read and given the green light by Mr. Taylor.

Premiere Pro Project

Editing this film took me around 7 hours total. I used various effects, and spent a lot of time working to make the soundtrack good.
