Narrative Visual Perspective in English

English has been an absolute blast this unit. We spent pretty much all of our time improving our narrative treatments that we started last semester. We then created slide decks about our stories and presented them in front of class in a mock pitch to investors. I think that these past couple of months have really pushed me to grow creatively. I took the randomness of my story idea and turned it into something that was really cool.

Because my fictional story was set in Eastern Berlin (at least for the beginning), I thought it would be funny to make all the names of characters and locations be the word in German that literally describes whatever was being named. For example, if you put Erste Letzte, the name of our protagonist into Google translate, you’d find that it really just means “First Last”. The same goes for all of our characters and locations. Originally, my group and I were going to create a slideshow with “AI generated characters” (our main character was really just Andrew Tate), but the day before we were supposed to present we scrapped the idea and started over. What emerged from the ashes of our old presentation came a blockbuster anime series which you can see down below.

Because our story is kind of ridiculous, we knew we had to blow away our audience with our presenting skills and visuals to make up for the lack of connection to our research essays (our research essays were supposed to connect to a theme in our stories). So, we spent the next day after school practicing our delivery. Given that our story had so many German aspects, we decided to dress in theme as well.
