Hey! My name is Vee, and I was a student at Freestyle Academy and Los Altos High School, class of 2026. I’ve been an artist my entire life, but I wasn’t always sure that’s what I wanted to do in future – for a while, art was just a side hobby. But when I started high school, I realized it’s something I truly want to pursue. So, I decided to pursue art at Freestyle. With this program, I hoped to learn about not only traditional art, but also more technical art and just technology in general too. I’ve never been a tech or computer kind of person, but I was excited to learn more about it and combine it with my previous knowledge of art. This is one of the things I valued most about being a student at Freestyle. We learned so many different things, from working with Adobe applications, how to create websites like this one, writing anything from analysis to  flash fiction, and more depending on our elective. I was an Animation student, where we learned about older techniques, like phenakistoscopes and zoetropes, as well as newer ones like digital 2D and 3D animation. This kind of learning environment, where we learn so many different things about art and technology, was such a fun way for me to learn, and has made me appreciate new forms of art, how they’re made, and inspire me to create new art after graduation!

Aside from school, I also enjoy a variety of different art forms. Visual art like drawing and painting, sculpting, sewing, character design and development, creative writing, poetry, art history, and more are all things I’ve tried and enjoy doing in my personal life. I do some of these things more than others, but generally I like trying many different forms of art. Other than art, I enjoy reading, going for walks with my dog, and hanging out with my friends. As a person, I’m fairly quiet but a lot more outgoing once you get to know me. I value creativity a lot; in my opinion it just makes life so much more fun and easier to endure. Generally, I really like creating things – whether it’s a character, story, a physical piece of artwork – it’s what keeps me going. Companionship and loyalty are some of my other values. Without my friends and family I wouldn’t be who I am today. All the people I’ve ever been loyal to in my life, and all of the people who I’ve ever considered a close companion or friend, have shaped me into the person I am now.
