To create a more cinematic photograph for the color theory prompt, I used Photoshop on the photo to shift the mood of the photo. The original photo (top) I thought had a very airy and light feeling, given the brighter white lighting and cooler colors present. When taking it, I tired to add cool colors to the background and make the yellow bug pop more. Using the yellow color as inspiration, I thought I’d try to shift the mood to be warmer using Photoshop. In the edited photo (bottom), I added different values of yellow using a multiply layer, making everything darker. There’s a dark yellow added to the right side and the left corner, and a very light blue added over the yellow mug to make it still pop compared to the now darker background. Even though this new coloring was subtle, but still obvious enough to create a clear mood shift from the original photo. I thought this new photograph could be a scene out of the beginning, set up part of a movie, maybe establishing a character’s home and the setting.
