Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

For our second semester in Digital Media, we delved into a Multi-Layered Project comprising of moving 2d and 3D parts both in programs on our computer as well as in real life on our desks. Our goal was to make art that could be built and showcased through Adobe After Effects in a reel showcasing how we made the art.

For this project, I and a partner chose the Wood-Stack art project, which involves lots of wooden layers being stacked upon each other in order to create depth and detail.

We chose to make an airship design, highlighting the intricate detail a Steampunk-style airship would have at the time.

Next, we moved onto learning how to make 3D edited videos through Adobe After Effects

We also learned how to use Cameras in After Effects to create the illusion of depth in a 2D Image.

(Waiting on Partner to finish Building Wood stacked Art)

I found it extremely exciting to get into the nitty-gritty of doing VFX and using after effects to produce high-quality edits. I hope in the future I get to use these skills on some high-level production projects or for college even as they are a great tool to get an edge in the editing industry. I’m proud of what idea we came up with for the Art project as well and think that once it’s all fully together it will be super cool. In the future though, I think it would be probably best for me to work on things alone, as doing it with a partner is fun…if everybody does their part.
