Intro to Reflections

For the first semester of my Senior year in Freestyle, we branched out from our already established roots of knowledge planted back in the junior year into more complex and more intrinsic topics. For Animation, we began the transition to 3D Animation, which was a lot of fun due to my previous experience and passion for it. In English, we grew out of poems into more complex Lyrical Essays, and in digital media, we put our shortcuts and tools to the test to create some surreal imagery and spiritual art.

Mandala Project

For the Mandala Project, we learned how to re-create patterns and overlap them over other areas of the canvas in Adobe Illustrator. We then were tasked to create a colored and engraved mandala using this method.

I would work on the detail of the piece again, as I think I could add more to it. I am wanting to expand the color and how they interact with each other as well. I enjoyed making a creative and artistic piece reflective of me in a chill environment. I really liked how pretty much anything could make an interesting pattern and I enjoyed integrating myself into it. I really put my philosophy and how I see the world through the different geometric symmetric designs and through the flowing water flames behind the antlers and face of a deer. It’s reflective of my journey and my different layers of self, with it all being encompassed by the balance of the yin yang sign.

College Personal Essay

For our English Class, we ended up creating a Lyrical Essay. I chose to write about death, and more specifically the thoughts associated with it. I want to open the world up to the idea of these complex topics, as I am saddened by the fall off of philosophy and critical thinking and want to get people interested in weird and metaphysical questions.

Animation

For Animation this year, we did a lot of things, and I did a lot of things to hone in on my 3D animation skills and test the waters with what I could do.

I then moved forward wanting to learn ZBrush and better learn how to texture paint my models. We spent time learning Substance Painter in order to provide the necessary Textures as well, all in all creating a lifelike 3D Model.

I then went into the game engine I learned over the years Unity and messed around with integrating each of my projects into it. I rigged a character and got it working with mocap tracking in Unity using my Virtual Reality setup.

I went ahead and tried importing things I made in Maya and Zbrush into Unity as well to see if I could spice them up in anyway.

Greek Temple unit brought into the world of technicolor.
I created a train that used “solar flares” to travel. Using a particle system and some scripting to create a simulated and physics-based asteroid field.
I created and textured a Moonknight Idea I had and brought him into Unity for some lighting and particle playing and made him look very menacing.
