After my 2 years at Freestyle Academy, I’m proud to show what I’ve accomplished.
Freestyle projects
Magazine article and animated documentary
These 2 projects were made during the documentary unit, and I am really proud of how they turned out due to the amount of new software I had to learn. For the magazine, I used InDesign, while for the animated documentary, I spent around 2-3 weeks animating in Photoshop. I interviewed flautist Camille Chien and violinist Ryan Chan on the mental health benefits of playing an instrument.
Junior explorations project
During my junior year explorations project, I wanted to create an artwork that could capture a feeling of an imaginary world, but one that only revealed itself the more you looked at it. For this artwork, I was inspired by Maurice Ravel’s Gaspard De La Nuit, a piece of classical music.

Senior year 3d animation group project
During my senior year, I learned how to use zBrush, Substance Painter, and 3D animation in Maya. What I enjoyed most about this project was how well I mastered Maya, a 3D animation software which at first seems really complicated to use. Through trial and error, I learned how to animate lights, keyframe and rig 3D characters that I designed, and most importantly, how to use the perspective camera to create a realistic animation.
