Narrative Perspective in Digital Media

Introduction

In the Digital Media Narrative Unit, we were challenged to learn new skills relating to storytelling in various programs including photoshop, illustrator, and more.

We used photoshop blending modes and editing tools to make a photo look like a pastel painting.

Using our skills we learned in photoshop, we were ultimately tasked with creating a painting digitally in photoshop.

Multi Layered Art Project

For this project, we were tasked with creating a laser cut layered art piece. I created a lightbox, which when layered will reflect light and look like a 3D drawing.

Artist Statement

I chose to do a light box themed around my favorite childhood show, Gravity falls. The water tower is a very iconic view that is associated with the show, and I wanted to turn it into a light box. I plan to put the light coming from below, and with the mystery elements of the show I feel like it would add the aura of weirdness that is associated and well loved in the show.

Destiny Fanart Inspiration vs. Final Product

For this piece I wanted to work on my landscape skills while trying out new brushes. I love the game Destiny 2 so I decided to replicate one of my favorite scenes in a dungeon.

Photo of three silhouettes standing next to a giant mist creature. Same photo as before but painted digitally and much cooler looking.

Lighting Makes a Difference

In this character drawing I wanted to showcase how much lighting makes a difference. It’s incredible how much lighting can change a drawing and I love doing it.

character drawing without sunlight and other lighting effects applied, kind of bland looking. Same photo as before but with lighting effects applied to it, much more lively and engaging to look at.
