In English, our narrative unit was centered around world building, which consisted of reading Parable of the Sower, writing a research paper, and creating a treatment for a story. I’ve grown so much as a storyteller because of this unit, and I’m so proud of the story me and my group mates have created.

Our research paper was meant to be about a social, cultural, or political issue, and I chose to write about the militarization of the police. Although a large 5-7 page paper seemed impossible at first, I found that my passion for the issue drove my work flow and allowed me to complete the paper in a timely manner. I’ve learned a lot from my research, and I’m glad to be better educated on a topic that affects our society so greatly.

The research paper slowly transitioned into our main world building project: creating a treatment for an original story. Not only were we supposed to create a story, but this was also a group project! I’m lucky to have had the best group partners in the world – Maya and Kai. After many, many trials and errors we created our final story – a video game about a man who wakes up in a cult with no recollection of his past. Cleaning up our final treatment was a bit of a challenge as we weren’t sure how to write the middle section of our story, but in the end the puzzle pieces all came together. Go Team Remembrance!
