Lighting

Posted on March 18, 2020September 16, 2020 by x

Alright, I’ll be the first to say it: the lighting of this photo is terrible. All of the houses on the hill are totally in shadow and the sunset is totally blown out. I definitely thought so when I took it. But, out of all the failed attempts to photograph the sunset, I kept this one. I feel that it reminds me of my time in Hawaii and all of the fun memories from it. I distinctly remember sitting out on the deck and ordering school supplies with my sister on the Target website, practicing choreography for the upcoming showcase that we would perform when we got back, and drinking copious amounts of Sparkling Ice. Compared with the dull, shadowy tint of the rest of my life, these memories stand out as a bright, overexposed sunset.
